Rice Cooked in the Microwave

Why pay all that extra money for microwavable rice when you can buy a 5 lb. bag for the same price as a pouch of microwavable rice.

Ingredients 

  • 1 ½ cups of rice, I tend to mix 1 cup short grain white rice with ½ cup short grain brown rice

  • 3 cups water or for a little flavor substitute chicken broth.

Instructions

  1. In medium microwavable casserole dish with fitted glass lid add 1 ½ cups rice and water. Microwave for 17 minutes on high heat. Liquid should be absorbed, and rice should be tender. If not, cook 3 more minutes. Can always add more liquid if dry. It is that simple!!
